Photographic Artist

Growing up in Northern New Jersey, Ed always had an interest in recording the beauty surrounding him. Throughout grade school, high school, and college, Ed always had a camera with him. Starting out with an Olympus rangefinder given to him by his dad, then moving up to the Olympus OM-1, OM-2, OM-2n, and finally the OM-4, the camera became an extension of his hand and eye. Able to capture unique perspectives in everyday surroundings, Ed perfected his techniques for capturing the decisive moment. At local theatres, Ed recorded productions for the cast and crew, and even began performing in the pit orchestra, working backstage, and finally performing on stage at regional community theatres. Ed's favorite performance was a dual role as both Friar Tuck and Prince John in a children's theatre production of "Robin Hood".

Ed came to professional photography in somewhat a roundabout way. After graduating with an advanced degree in Computer Science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (now known as Virginia Tech - much less of a mouthful to say!), Ed spent many years creating computer systems for such companies as Control Data, Ticketron, Tandem, NASDAQ, British Telecom, Cincinnati Bell, and several local phone companies. Eventually Ed could no longer deny his dream to become a professional image creator, and he decided to turn his vocation into a profession.

Ed left the computer field and went back to school with the Professional Photographers of America and the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International, spending three years soaking in as much knowledge as possible, both in the classroom and at various conventions, tradeshows, and seminars. In 1993, Ed moved to Ft. Lauderdale to study portraiture and boudoir under the tutelage of internationally recognized Rob & Sheila Hurth. While in their employ, Ed was also their Director of Video Productions, both capturing the video and editing the final tape for all weddings videotaped at the studio during that time. When not creating video, Ed was also honing his skills at his first love, wedding and boudoir photography. Ed considers Rob his mentor, and Rob is probably the greatest influence on Ed's style of photography.

Moving to the cooler winter weather of Orlando in 1998, Ed opened his own studio in Winter Park to concentrate on wedding and portrait photography. Today Ed is acclaimed as one of the leading photographers in Orlando, and is on the board of directors of the Professionals Photographers of Central Florida, Central Florida Wedding Association, and the old Wedding Professionals of Central Florida. Ed has not forsaken his knowledge of computers and programming: in addition to creating and maintaining this site and sites for several local vendors, he also is webmaster for cfweddingassoc.com. Remembering the day he bought the first true multitasking, image friendly computer (the Amiga 1000/2000) to bring computers and photography together, Ed spends his time anticipating the convergence of computers and digital imaging.
